Jackson Dependable Backup Generators
Standby generators are a handy home upgrade that enhances your home’s resilience during power outages. You can select models that can power only your home’s essentials or everything. In the case of the former, we can help you choose which circuits to prioritize in an outage. For example, you may want your refrigerator, HVAC system, lights, and a few outlets to work.
Based on your needs, we can recommend a generator powerful enough to meet them. Then, we’ll relocate those circuits into a dedicated electrical sub-panel. With the addition of a transfer switch, your generator will power those circuits while the rest remain off.
Whole-home standby generators are much larger and require fewer modifications to your home’s electrical system. They rely on automated transfer switches that detect a grid failure, start your generator, and connect your home to it. In either case, most backup generators connect to your home’s natural gas supply.
That allows them to run for as long as your home’s gas line remains functional. If your home lacks a natural gas line, there are also propane-powered models. Those typically come with large dedicated propane tanks that can keep your generator running for up to two weeks.
